This is a nice upward-looking positive sort of graph, a screenshot from Substack (hence the cut-off orange bit) showing the increase in subscriber numbers for The Shetland Witch in the last 90 days.
*Waves at all subscribers with a special flourish for the newcomers.*
I am just so pleased with how much people are enjoying reading The Shetland Witch. I’m getting lovely messages, and the reviews are beginning to be posted.
Can I have a wee word about posting book reviews, online or in print? These matter because:
a) They make a connection between me at my desk and you the reader. That’s nice.
b) If they’re packed with astute and measured praise, and/or gushing about the enjoyment the novel and novellas have brought you, that makes me delighted. It’s been a long time putting these books together, so I could do with being made to feel delighted more often.
c) Good reviews help to sell more copies of the book. Sales figures are doing amazingly well. We are now at a little under a quarter of what I calculate will cover the books’ production costs, which is pretty amazing. Reviews on the books’ Amazon pages will make the algorithm notice and advertise the books in more ‘You might also be interested in’ sections.
Reviews don’t need to be essays. One sentence of positive truth would be lovely, if you’ve read the books and like them.
If you don’t want to order from Amazon (and believe me, normally I don’t), I can post the books to you myself. Here’s how:
UK addresses: email me at peachfieldpress@gmail.com to let me know which title you’d like to order and where it’s going, and I’ll send you an invoice to be paid by BACS or Paypal. Once the money is received I’ll post the books.
EU addresses: I am dreadfully sorry, but posting books into the EU from the Brexitised UK is astonishingly difficult because of the paperwork at my end and potential customs dues that you will be asked to pay. I just can’t do it.
Rest of the world: I can post to you, but I will have to charge you the postage (eg currently about £9 for North America, and more for Australia/ New Zealand.)
I can supply bookshops: so if you want to order through your local indie bookshop, get them to contact me at peachfieldpress@gmail.com and I can discuss trade discount terms with them.
Thank you all!
