I know: all these emails and Posts and Notes and whatnot are very confusing. Let me untangle the threads.
You currently receive weekly Posts as emails from Substack, which are mostly the episodes of The Shetland Witch and the novellas. (This email, for example, is a Post.)
If you look at Substack for other people’s writing, you might also come across things I write as a Note. These aren’t Posts; they don’t get posted by email. They just sit in Substack till drowned by the weight of other Notes by other people. You can always find mine by looking at The Shetland Witch site on Substack, the second tab along.
I write Notes to respond to something, to react or to post a photo I feel like sharing. They’re not usually very long, but they do record snippets of life behind the Posts, like a duck’s feet paddling madly underwater.
And then there are the blog posts that I post on the Peachfield Press website (which is completely separate from Substack). Here I talk about book production news, any reviews, things I’ve noticed about writing and selling the books, and interesting snippets about new projects. For example, today I did a blog post on the Peachfield Press site about how the people I met when I was speaking at the King’s Lynn Literary Festival encouraged me to explore making an audiobook for The Shetland Witch. You can subescribe to these blog posts, and get them in your email inbox, by clicking on the box at the bottom of this page.
I think you’re covered now. As you were …
Love your description of that perfect voice. I think immediately of the amazing Indira Varma, who reads Terry Prachett’s witch books in the New Penguin audioversions. I imagine she’d be a little hard to get though…
I think she'd be expensive! I discovered a thing called royalty sharing which means no up-front costs for me, so I'm trying that first. Lots of good possibilities in the talent list.
